ExpandX-3 – Professional laser fume extractor for large industrial systems


ExpandX-3 is a high-performance portable laser fume extractor equipped with three fans and a four-stage, high-capacity HEPA filtration system, designed for maximum performance when working with large industrial laser systems.


The unit effectively extracts harmful fumes generated during laser cutting, engraving, or marking, thoroughly filters them, and returns clean air to the workspace.

Thanks to its extremely high airflow and robust filtration, it is ideal for demanding operations with high dust and gas production, where maximum efficiency, stable performance, and long-term reliability are key.

Higher performance thanks to true three-stage filtration
The Filtrabox filtration system uses separate filters, each of which performs a specific function:

1. F9 Pre-filter
The pre-filter captures most fine dust and protects the main HEPA filter from clogging and premature wear.
Advantages:
• captures most microscopic dust
• extends the service life of the HEPA filter
• sturdy aluminum housing prevents the escape of contaminants
• large filtration area (mini-pleated media) for high capacity

2. HEPA filter
The HEPA filter has a tested efficiency of 99.999% for particles 0.3 microns in size.
This means:
• capture of nearly all the most hazardous particles
• even higher efficiency for both smaller and larger particles
• exceptionally clean air free of fine dust

• high resistance to deformation
• large filtration area for demanding operations

3. Gas filter
The gas filter contains a mixture of:
• high-quality activated carbon
• potassium permanganate
This combination captures a wide spectrum of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) generated during laser operation.

• molecular removal of gases
• approximately 36 kg of adsorbent media
• high capacity for industrial use

Why are separate filters more advantageous than combined ones?
Different materials produce varying amounts of dust and gases.
For example:
• Acrylic › approximately 90% gases and 10% dust
• Wood › approximately 90% dust and 10% gases
With separate filters, each filter can be replaced individually based on actual wear and tear.
Advantages:
• lower operating costs
• longer filter life
• less waste
• more economical operation
With combined HEPA/carbon filters, the entire filter must be replaced at once, even if part of it is still functional. This is less efficient and unnecessarily costly.

Why are solid filter cartridges important?
Filtrabox systems use powerful negative-pressure fans that draw exhaust fumes from the laser into the filtration unit.
How filters become clogged:
• negative pressure inside the unit increases
• mechanical stress on the filters increases
The unit’s design is engineered to withstand:
• high negative pressure
• deformation
• leaks
Therefore, the filters must be equally durable.
Filtrabox uses sturdy aluminum filter cartridges that:
• do not deform
• maintain their seal
• prevent dust and gas leaks
In contrast, filters with paper or cardboard frames can deform or collapse under higher loads, which can lead to the leakage of pollutants.
