The Filtrabox Expand X-1 is a portable laser, plastic melting and adhesive fume extractor with a single fan and high capacity three-stage HEPA filtration for maximum performance for medium-sized industrial applications. Exhausts, filters and recirculates clean air into the work area.
Expandable:
An additional fan module can be added at any time for 2x the airflow; effectively converting the Expand X-1 to the Expand X-2 for more demanding applications.
Filtrabox fume extractors use a multi-stage filtration system. A pre-filter captures larger dust particles, followed by a HEPA filter that captures ultra-fine particles. Finally, a gas filter absorbs gases and VOCs (volatile organic compounds). The systems work together to effectively remove particulate and gaseous contaminants from the air.
Filtrabox units use separate HEPA and chemical/gas filters versus combined HEPA/carbon filters. Different materials produce different ratios of dust and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). For example, laser cutting of acrylic produces 90% VOC gases and 10% dust. Conversely, laser cutting of wood produces 10% gases and 90% dust. With separate filters, each filter can be replaced when it is actually worn out, which varies for each laser material. In the case of acrylic laser cutting, the gas filter will need to be replaced before the dust filter due to the high gas to dust ratio. This is not a problem when using separate filters. Each individual filter can be replaced as needed, saving money and reducing waste. In contrast, with a combination filter, where the HEPA and gas filters are inseparable, it may be necessary to sacrifice the little-used HEPA portion of the filter because the gas portion is worn out (or vice versa). This is wasteful and less economical.
